I am a student currently attending the University of California Irvine and am in my fourth year of school with a major in anthropology.  There are different fields within anthropology including cultural and biological anthropology.
 
 

The one that interests me is the cultural aspect.  Some research interests that I have at this time include examining how societies function among such groups as the Native American Indians and the Pacific Islanders.  I research how things have changed from the past which would include how the roles of the people have changed to accommodate new societies and why this is important.
 

Another research interest is studying the music of different regions.  I have taken some classes under Professor Garfias who has shown that different areas even within the same continent may have different or similar types of music and sometimes different or similar instruments.  He looked at how musical styles and instruments have spread.  This would be an interesting topic to analyze more among different regions in the world.
